The Floor, in development
Dial together, even when you work alone.
Calling on your own is the hard part. The Floor will be a room of people from different businesses dialling at the same time, with a board for the hour and a chat for the minute between calls.
Why build it
Sat on your own, picking up the phone is hard.
I've noticed it on my own calls. When there are other people there, you bounce off each other, and a bit of friendly competition keeps you going.
Where a dialler has a sales floor, it's usually there for a manager watching a team. The Floor is the other way round: people who don't work together, dialling at the same time because it's easier than dialling alone.
How a power hour will work
Turn up, dial, see how the room got on.
Join a scheduled hour
Power hours will run at set times, like 10:00 to 11:00 on weekdays. You turn up because other people will be there.
Dial your own list
You work your own campaign in your own dialler, exactly as you do now. The Floor shows everyone who's there and what they're doing.
Finish with a board
When the hour ends, the board will show who had the most conversations and who booked meetings, and when the next hour is.
What's planned for the floor
Just enough to feel like a room.
Who's here, and what they're doing
Each person will show as dialling, on a call and for how long, wrapping up, or just booked a meeting.
A board for the hour
It'll count conversations and meetings, and reset every power hour. You'll be able to hide yourself from it.
Chat between calls
Short messages beside the room. A message that arrives while you're on a call will wait until you've hung up.
Role-play rooms, later
If the power hours work, role-play rooms come next: two people call each other through the dialler, one playing the prospect from a brief.
The rules
What the floor will never show.
Your prospects stay yours
Other people see that you're on a call and for how long. They never see who you're calling, the company, the number, or any audio.
No listening in from outside
Listening in to a live call is planned for your own team only, never for anyone outside it.
The board counts calls that went somewhere
Ranking dials would reward rushing through a list, so conversations and meetings are what score.
A floor, not a social network
No feed, no followers, no profiles to keep up. The chat belongs to the hour and doesn't follow you around.
Getting a seat
The first floors are invite only.
The first power hours will be small, with people I've spoken to, while the dialler's UK screening and spending limits are finished. Public floors come later, once screening, spending limits and billing are in place.
Opt-in public leaderboards are planned too: a weekly, monthly, yearly and all-time top 20 on this site, for anyone who chooses to show their numbers.
Want a seat on the first floor?
Join early access and say you'd like a place on The Floor. I'll be in touch when the first power hours are ready.
